BATTLING

welcome to the official battling guide! this guide is going to layout the specifics of battling on this forum. not sure what exactly "battling" is? well, this is where you're going to find it all out. battling is definitely a fun and good way to make your character stronger, as well as interact with other characters on the forum.[/center]
WHAT IS BATTLING?
battling is a method of interacting with other characters, positively and negatively, in addition to getting experience points. battling is when one user attacks and/or defends against another user, who may be attacking or defending as well. battling is different than sparring during a training session. battles are usually done to get a certain result - not to get stronger, but to either win a competition, complete a mission, or to protect one's life. battling usually causes a lot of physical strain as well as the possibility of either permanent damage, or even death.
WHEN CAN WE BATTLE?
normally, battles can only happen during missions or other plots issued by the staff. however, exceptions can be made if you wish to battle in another situation. if so, simply PM a staff member with the necessary information.
SO, WHAT ARE THE RULES?
unfortunately, rules need to be implanted in order to keep battling as fair as possible. in reality, nobody wants their character to lose - because losing seems like weakness and defeat. but in reality, everyone loses (even the strongest ninja in the world). you can't win every battle, no matter how much you want to. if you do win, congratulations! if you've lost, at least you've gotten the experience from the battle. the first and number rule: do not be a sore loser. accept it, and move on. there will be plenty more chances.
during a battle, there can sometimes be a clear winner. for example, a genin vs. a jonin - who do you think will win? however, there can be exceptions. if you take the anime into consideration, naruto has defeated many ninja who were stronger than him, despite him being only a genin. but naruto cannot, at this time, defeat a jonin like kakashi, might guy, asuma, or kurenai. evaluate your opponent and determine whether you personally think it will be a clear win or not. this is important in determining the fairness of the fight.
if it seems like a pretty evenly matched battle, such as a genin vs a genin, or a genin vs a chunin, then keep in mind that you must keep the battle as fair as possible. no matter what, even if you are losing, you can't come out all powerful just to win the battle, or complain that you are losing. accept the defeat. remember the first rule?
sometimes you know when you are going to be battling another character. in which case, you do not need to make a new thread. however, if a battle comes out of nowhere, then a new thread must be made for the battle or the original subject must be modified (this is the preferable method). for the subject title, at the end of the title, include these variables: [F][#]
the [F] stands for fight, or battle. the # sign is the number of people participating in the battle (2 is the minimum). for right now, we are going to discuss only a one-on-one battle.
at the beginning of the battle post, you must post your current chakra limit. here's the code:[center][b]50[/b]/50[/center]replace the 50 with your chakra limit. at the beginning of the battle, you start with 100% chakra. each post you make during the battle scene, you must include this code at the top and the bottom of the post. the top of the post shows what you have before your post happens. the code at the bottom of the post shows what you have at the end of that post.
there is no word minimum, however we do ask that you keep your posts detailed so that the other users can see exactly what is happening, and there are no hidden surprises that you didn't mention in the post. at the beginning of the post, you must also explain what weapons your character is carrying, as well as any other tools s/he may use in battle. you must also explain any hidden or secret jutsu. for example, if you are hiding some kunai underneath your sleeve, and plan on doing a surprise attack, say so. however, please keep in mind that this kind of information is ooc.
in addition to all of this, in your first post, we ask (recommend), that you post your data table at the top of your first post below the chakra limit. this way, you can implement these skills into the battle as well.
WHAT'S WITH THE CHAKRA LIMIT?
now i will explain the chakra limit. every time your character uses a jutsu, s/he is also using up chakra. depending on the rank of the jutsu, depends on the amount of chakra being used. unless otherwise specified by you, here are the general guidelines for chakra used by a certain jutsu:
E-Rank: 2 pts
D-Rank: 5-10 pts
C-Rank: 10-15 pts
B-Rank: 10-30 pts
A-Rank: 20-50 pts
S-Rank: 30-100 pts
we ask that you please be realistic when using these guidelines. when you use a certain jutsu, as you say the name, also in (), include the number of chakra points being used for the jutsu. staff members will watch the posts, and if a user is only using 5 points for an s-rank jutsu, we will modify the post for you. please, please, please, be realistic with chakra.
now, what happens when your chakra reaches 0? you faint. if your chakra gets to 10% or less, than your character is extremely weak and should probably withdraw from the fight, before fainting.
WHAT IS THE DATA TABLE FOR?
the data table is everything about your character's fighting style and capabilities. the table allows the other user to see the opponent and determine that when a character with a strength of 4 punches the ground, the punch is incredibly powerful. however, if the character only has a strength of 2, the punch is rather weak and may not be as intimidating. this will also help determine speed. speed is important when landing hits for taijutsu, or close-combat users. if one character has a speed of 4, and the other has a speed of 2, the first character is much faster than the second, meaning the second character probably will not be able to dodge as much.
as for the stamina, the stamina is also very important. during a battle, you multiply your stamina by 6. this is the amount of posts your character can last on stamina alone. if your character only has a stamina level of 1, then your character can only fight for six posts (6 of your own posts, not including the other users). after the sixth post, your character will be too tired to continue to fight. some fights do not last this long, however, so don't be too discouraged.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ANOTHER USER ATTACKS YOU?
you can also faint, or lose a battle, when another user attacks you. yes, here's another variable to add to the top of your post, next to the chakra limit.[b]100[/b]/100. the 100 is your health. 100 is standard for all users, as it is equivalent to 100%. however, damage done is also dependent on the level jutsu and the level of the ninja, and whether they dodged it a little bit. we will not provide standard numbers for this, however we will keep an eye on this. when you are attacked, and you are describing the attack on you, include in (), the amount of damage done by that attack. if you are unsure of the rank of the jutsu, then click here and search for the jutsu. please, don't be a sore loser with this, either. your character is not immortal (most likely, anyway). s/he will lose health. if you are a chunin level ninja, and someone uses an s-rank jutsu on you do and it hits, do not only take off 5 health points. the s-rank jutsu will do far more damage than that. please, just be realistic, and make it fair.
if you reach 20 or less, then your character has probably fainted. if you reach 0, then your character has died.
WHAT ABOUT MULTIPLE FIGHTERS?
multiple fighters are common in missions as well as site plots. the above rules still apply. the only difference this time, however, is that multiple fights are occurring. we recommend sticking to one-on-one combat, unless it is a group against one single user. if it is one-on-one combat with multiple users, then you may post in the thread with your opponent in any order (as long as the opponent posts, then you, then opponent, etc.). however, if it is multiple people against a single user, then you must wait for all persons to post in the thread.
WHAT IF A WINNER CAN'T BE DETERMINED?
just because somebody has reached low chakra, doesn't mean that they have lost. sometimes, both users will be so evenly matched, that they reach minimum chakra levels at roughly the same time. in which case, the match could be a tie. if the users cannot decide you won the fight (meaning, they just keep fighting because neither party wants to lose), then a staff member will intervene to determine a winner, loser, or whether it was a tie.
