THE WEAPONS

ANIMALS
a ninja's jutsu may often involve use of various animals' most notably amoung the leaf ninja are the aburame clan; who form a symbiotic relationship with a beetle-like species of insect called the kikaichu. also, the inuzuka clan; which favors the use of canines in battle. in this first style of animal usage, the relationship between ninja and animal extends beyond battle; as they will be in each other's company for most of their lives. the ninja will develop a unqiue style to maximize coordination between himself and his animal partner(s). another form of animal usage comes from the summoning technique.
CHAKRA ENHANCED TRENCH KNIVES
a highly unique-designed trench knife, these blades are worn like brass-knuckles, but each one has a sharpened zigzag "tooth" over each knuckle, and a blade coming out of one end. the knives can be infused with elemental chakra or yin-yang chakra to produce added effects.
CHAKRA SEAL TAG
using a tag similar to the exploding tag and placing it on a door, the user prevents anyone else from entering or leaving the room, similar to a padlock. by using a special hand seal, the tag disappears.
EXPLODING TAG
exploding tags are scraps of paper inscribed with a special writing, centering around the kanji for "explode". infused with chakra, they will explode after a set amount of time, remotely, or after being ignited by flame. the tags can be attached to a surface of wrapped around a weapon to be thrown at an enemy. they are very versatile and one of the basic ninja tools. ninja can confuse their enemies by obtaining fake exploding tags.
FLASH BOMBS
flash bombs are small around spheres that are attached to a kunai knife, similarly to a an exploding tag. once thrown, flash bombs explode on impact, creating blinding flashes, used as a diversion.
FUMA SHURIKEN
the fuma shuriken is a large, four-bladed shuriken possessing pre-eminent sharpness and lethality. this type of shuriken is considered characteristic of the famous fuma clan, after whom they were named and possibly developed them. however, their use is not limited to this clan. its four blades can be collapsed for easy storage, leading to its nickname shadow windmill.
HIDDEN KUNAI MECHANISM
this item allows the user to instantly extend and retract kunai from their sleeve using a spring-loaded wire.
INFINITE ARMOR
the infinite armor was a unique armored chest plate, fashioned into the shape of a lion's face. this armor has the ability to draw out and absorb the chakra of anyone or anything that comes into contact with it. to extend the reach of the armor's cahkra draining ability, the user can use the armor in conjuction with a specialized flail, that allowed the infinite armor to drain an opponent's chakra through it.
JOHYO
the johyo consists of a long rope, typically several meters long, with a handle attached to one end, and a metal dart attached to the other, acting as a weight which allows the user to throw the dart out at a long range target to blind them then either reel them in or perform an attack on them.
KAMA
a kama is a japanese sickle, used as a weapon. it has a short handle and a sharp beak that inflicts damage. there is also a variation of the kama: a kusarigama, which has a chain attached to it for increasing its attack range.
KATANA
a sword, or a katana, is a long, bladed weapon used for combat. most swords used by main characters tend to bear little resemblance to real-life weapons. most shinobi appear to have a preference towards long and wide blades, while some ninja use swords in long-range instead of close-range combat.
KUNAI
kunai are a common ninja weapon. it is a black dagger designed for thrusting and stabbing, though it can still do damage if thrown despite being not designed for it, and is about the length of one's hand. many ninja attack by attaching an exploding tag to the blade. the kunai is usually thrown so that it lodges in an object near the target, and then the explosion from the attached tag destroys said target. kunai can also be kept on spring-loaded wires in the user's sleeve. they can be used for close combat, like a normal knife. empowered with "chakra flow", kunai thrown into targets can cut through solid wood and even solid stone targets. the ninja appear to use them so much due to both their sturdy and dependable nature and their versatility.
LION-HEADED KANNON
the lion-headed kannon is used by chiyo as a means for using the sealing technique: lion closing roar. it is kept inside one of the puppets from the puppet collection of chikamatsu. it starts out as a small ball that can be held in one's hand, but when thrown grows out into a man-sized lion's head with numerous large fangs and its mouth wide open. it aimed correctly, the tool will pin the target against a wall with its mouth, making them unable to move.
MAKIBISHI
makibishi are small, sharp objects that are mostly used to prevent someone from walking from one side to another, since they would hurt their feet if they tried to pass it. they're rarely used.
MANRIKI-GUSARI
the manrikigusari is a traditional chain weapon, with two steel-weights on the ends designed to strike, ensnare, or trap an opponent. one tactic was to bunch the chain in a fist and fling one weighted end into the face, groin, or solar plexus of an opponent, quickly and discreetly disabling or even killing them. typically, these weapons are three feet long, however, they do come in different lengths.
METAL WIRES
the metal wires are used to trap enemies. if enemies get tangled in the wires tightly, they can get sliced up. wires can also be used to control throwing weapons.
PILLS
BLOOD INCREASING PILL
the blood increasing pill is used by ninja to speed up the formation and increase of blood in the body. after having lost a significant amount of blood in battle, a ninja can use this pill to replenish the blood, so they can keep on fighting.
MILITARY RATIONS PILL
military rations pills are special pills that replenish one's stamina and chakra and nourish the body. it's made up of powerful stimulants and nutrients, said to allow the user to keep fighting for three days and three nights without rest.
MIND AWAKENING PILL
the mind awakening drug was developed by orochimaru to speed up the development of the cursed seal. it forcibly increases the level of the user's cursed seal to level two.
THREE COLORED PILLS
the three colored pills are secret medicines used in the akimichi clan. as the name suggests, there are three pills, each with a different color. first is the green spinach pill, next is the yellow curry pill, and last is the red chili pill.
POISONS
poisons, toxins, and venom are all poisonous, intoxicating substances, powders, liquids, and gases, that can be used by ninja in combat. poisons come with a variety of effects from body weakness, paralysis, or death.
PUPPETS
all puppets are different. however, they all work on the same fundamental principle. the puppeteer is a master of the puppet technique, and uses threads of chakra to manipulate the puppet's movements. a trend among puppeteers is to have hidden traps among their puppets, and to use poisons, smoke bombs, and other devices to incapacitate their enemy. often, the controller of the puppet is a weak close-range fighter. the use of puppet-related jutsu is most often associated with the hidden sand.
RADIO
the radio is used to communicate with other ninja over a short distance. it is usually used on missions with more than one person.
SCROLLS
scrolls come in many varieties of uses. normally, they are used as letters or messages to be sent out, but some scrolls are also suitable for combat. for example, summoning scrolls are activated by the user's blood and allow them to store or summon objects. a summoning contract with a line of creatures is also signed by blood on a scroll.
SENBON
senbon are metal needles with a point at both ends. they often serve a medical purpose, being used to strike acupuncture points. they have little killing power, but can be thrown with great accuracy. a user with proper medical knowledge can effectively use senbon in battle to incapacitate or even kill their target. to make these needles more effective, the user can poison the tips of the senbon. an added benefit of throwing these at the enemy is that these are smaller than a kunai or a shuriken, making it harder to see and dodge.
SHURIKEN
a shuriken, like a kunai, is one of the more basic weapons seen. they are sharpened, four-pronged metal stars, useful for throwing. although small, they can be used to distract, or, if accurate enough, can be deadly. they have an open circle in the center, used for grabbing with a finger, to avoid cutting oneself, or to put thread through. the circle is also a benefit in aerodynamics, as it ensures more accurate trajectories.
SLEEPING GAS BOMBS
sleeping gas is a chemical substance seemingly common among medical-nin. it can be stored in a spherical object that, when detonated, releases the gas, including a powerful sleep if inhaled.
SMOKE BOMBS
the simple smoke bombs puffs out smoke when detonated, serving as a distracting to disrupt enemies. some smokebombs may contain poison or tranquilizer gas, making it deadlier than regular bombs.
TANTO
a tanto is simply a small katana. several chunin have carried a tanto on the rear of their waist, although it is rarely used. the version root uses are double-edged and have no tip, meant only for cutting. they carry the tanto vertically on the back, behind the shoulder.
TRIPLE-BLADED SCYTHE
its main purpose is to aid in collecting blood. because of this, it is designed, not so much to kill the target, but to wound them, no matter how big or small the wound.
UMBRELLA
the umbrella is a common weapon among ninja from amegakure. it can be equipped with many senbon that can be released with spring-loaded mechanisms, which are used to perform the senbon shower.
